Why We Create...
Thomas and Bonnie McQueen have been designing and selling unique art for over 35 years. Our love and fascination with pewter led us to the creation of our collection almost 30 years ago. Both functional and decorative, our work transcends all others in the world of pewter. Our love of art, devotion to quality material, and craftsmanship is evident in our exquisite collection.
Not only are the pieces superior in quality and design, but they are affordable. This is the cornerstone of our philosophy. We believe that by consistently producing our very best work, while keeping costs reasonable our pieces can be owned and cherished by many. Those who own our work admire the beauty of the pewter and appreciate the affordability.
We feel fortunate that we can continue to do what we love. The constant growth and expansion of our collection is the fulfillment of our dreams.
Where We Create...
White Swan Fine Pewter began in the late 1970's. A 100-year-old barn nestled just outside the kettle Moraine of southeastern Wisconsin gave life to what was once just a dream. The charm and allure of the old Midwestern barn inspired and allowed us to create. It helped us grow and flourish into what we are now.
Today we occupy several thousand square feet and utilize the talents of many artisans and craftsmen in the pewter trade, Our exceptional ability to blend old-world craftsmanship with modern technology guarantees that each heirloom quality piece will retain its durability and lasting beauty for endless generations.
How We Create...
Using proven old-world techniques we hand engrave each original design into a metal die, then individually hand cast them in lead-free fine pewter. This unique method ensures that the thousandth piece is as crisp and detailed as the first. Both the front and back of our work have the beautifully intricate detail that is unparalleled by any other. We feel that, although time consuming, this method is essential to our production of the fines quality of pewter we offer to you.
Thomas, Master Metalsmith, provides the technical knowledge and skill necessary to transform raw metal into superb objects of art. Bonnie takes a different approach to the work. Her years as an accomplished designer have given her a keen eye for beauty and a sensitivity to the market pulse. Together we provide the balance that makes White Swan possible.
